What is a U3 smart drive?
A U3 smart drive is a new standard that transforms USB Flash Drives from simple storage drives into USB smart drives, capable of carrying a wide range of software programs and settings. You can easily install the set of U3 programs you need on your U3 smart drive, and run them from any Windows computer by merely inserting your U3 smart drive into the USB port of the computer.
The U3 device is not ejected from the USB port on the computer when I click the Eject button on the U3 Launchpad Main window.
Close all running applications before clicking the Eject button. If this does not work you should manually remove the U3 device from the USB port on the computer. Clicking the Eject button closes down all running applications, cleans up the computer and shuts down the U3 device so that it can be safely removed from the USB port on the computer.
The U3 Launchpad window is not displayed when I insert my U3 device into the USB port on my computer.
When the U3 device is inserted into the USB port on the computer, a U3 icon is displayed in your Windows Taskbar. Click the U3 icon to display the U3 Launchpad Main Window. If the U3 icon does not display. You should run U3Launcher.exe from the CD partition of your U3 device.
I have an application installed on my U3 device that I know has a newer available version. How do I update my version of the application?
U3 Launchpad has a mechanism for updating existing applications and all you have to do is to follow the procedure for installing new applications on your U3 device. U3 Launchpad checks if there is a newer version of the installed application. If an application is available, U3 Launchpad installs it on your U3 device after removing the old application.
How do I know what applications I can install on my U3 device?
Only U3 smart applications can be installed on your U3 device. You can install these applications from the U3 Web Site, or from U3 Applications tab at verbatim.com/u3.
I insert my U3 device into the USB port of my computer but the U3 Launchpad icon does not appear in the system tray. What should I do?
Verify that your computer runs a supported operating system. U3 Launchpad supports Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. On non supported operating systems, such as Linux, Unix, or Mac OS, your U3 device behaves as a regular USB device. This means that you can browse your data files but you cannot run your applications or use the advanced features of U3. To solve this problem you should run U3Launcher.exe from the CD partition of your U3 device.
